Amy L. Bower, Consultant
Amy Bower has 35 years of experience with NASA as an established safety and health professional. She served as Acting Chief and Deputy Chief of the Glenn Research Center (Glenn) Safety and Health Division, a division that is responsible for the planning, direction, management, and execution of Safety and Health programs at Glenn, consistent with NASA Directives, as well as Federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. During her career, she managed and led Glenn’s operational and systems safety, institutional maintenance, environmental compliance, quality, and security activities. She was the senior safety manager at Glenn’s Neil Armstrong Test Facility, prior Plum Brook Station. She served as the subject expert on key safety committees and safety culture workgroups, provided safety and management reviews of Health and Safety Plans, and conducted inspections, audits, and mishap investigations.
Ms. Bower retired from NASA in 2018. She brings a wealth of knowledge in management, and operational and occupational safety and health practices. She is a part-time instructor at the EHOVE Career Center in Milan, Ohio where she helps individuals prepare for new careers and enhance their leadership skills.
Ms. Bower has a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Health and Safety and an Associate degree in Applied Sciences from Bowling Green State University. She is a Certified Safety Professional (Retired) and was a Professional Member of the American Society of Safety Professionals for over 25 years.
